question...

are college applications and financial separate? i meant, if i have different names (slightly different) on both...would i be messed up? it's like this:

(example)

My name in school is "Anna Kay Cecilia Wheaton".
but the name on my social security card and ID card only shows "Kay Cecilia Wheaton".

So is this gonna have a big effect on my financial aid or college applications?

I do not think you will have a problem. Applying for admissions and applying for aid are two different steps. The first is on forms the college provides; the second requires you to fill out a federal government form called FAFSA (<a href="http://www.fafsa.ed.gov%5B/url%5D">www.fafsa.ed.gov</a>) and submit it to each college -- sometimes additional forms are required such as CSS Profile or the college might have its own form. Colleges usually track their applicant files by both name (last name first) and social security number and thus as long as your SSN is accurately reported on all things you submit, you should be OK.
