Hey this is regarding the dorm situation… I know there are already like 5 threads going, but this is a RANDOM question… can you sleep over in a friends room if you live in the same dorm? or do you HAVE to stay the night in your room every night? even like in warren where there are 3 towers I was wondering if someone had a “sleepover” in tower C if you lived in tower A and could go and not have to go through the whole “overnight stay” mess… and plus if you’re really good friends with someone down the hall from you if you could spend the night in their room or hang out in their room until like 5 am? What kind of regulations do they have about that…?

i don't attend bu yet, but i'm assuming as long as you're a student with proper ID, you can sleep in any room. it's just a hard line visiting policy on outsiders.

Of course, if the person lives in your building, there are no rules prohibiting you from staying in their room. As for Warren, since their is only one security post for all 3 towers, you can visit people in any of them all night long. As for west, since the buildings are not connected, you can still stay in other peoples' rooms in your own building, but not the other 2 (unless you swipe in before 10pm I believe, or have an approved overnight pass).

if you live in warren and your friend lives in warren (same with any other dorm complex, except west, since each building is separate), you can stay over 24/7/365 and travel to and from your friend's dorm whenever u want.

u can go into warren whenever u want. and u can go into other dorm complexes from 7 am to 8 pm.

so.. if u two live in different places, youll have to enter before 8 PM to stay overnight. if u enter after 8 pm, youll have to sign in with a little sheet, give your ID to the guard, and leave before 1:30 (or 1?) AM on sun-thurs and 2:30 AM on fri-sat to retrieve your ID without getting in trouble.

but.. theres also 7 or so "guest passes" per semester. they require planning.. your friend will need to hand in a sheet a day before u stay over.

but.. theres also "study extension", which can be a random "oh hey, can i stay over tonight?" thing (and i doubt anyone really uses them to study). if u signed in after 8 PM but sign a study extension sheet before 12 AM, u can stay until 7 AM. but then when u retrieve your ID at 7 AM, u can of course go back in and do whatever.. maybe even stay for the year as long as u dont leave.

so basically if u wanna stay over at a dorm building other than your own, youll either 1) need to plan it a day ahead, 2) enter before 8 pm, or 3) enter after 8 pm but have your sleep interrupted when u wake up before 7 am.

the guest policy really isnt THAT bad. its a bit less freedom, but it also provides really good security and regulates the party scene.
