So I’ve been waitlisted at a school I want to go to (but I’m completely fine with the school I’ve also picked), but I haven’t yet had my school counselor send an email on my behalf. I just never thought that was necessary because my counselor and I don’t really know each other - except she knows I’m a fantastic student, but nothing personal - but a bunch of people who got off waitlists at selective schools around the country told me that they had their counselor send an email to the dean, and they didn’t have great relationships with their counselors either and they got off the waitlist. Now I know having a counselor send an email on your behalf doesn’t mean the school will take me, but should I have my counselor tell the school that I would definitely come. Would it help coming from her?
On the other hand, I already sent a good letter of continued interests…
It might help, but at this point, midway through May, it might not have much effect. If your counselor will do it, no harm.
