Question

Hello there~
umm i'm a freshman in high school and i was wondering if you had to take both the ACT and the SAT to get into the Ivy colleges... Also, what is the difference between the SAT and the ACT? If i choose to take the ACT only, would colleges accept that as a substitute for SAT? Thanks in advance for your help.

Most schools accept both, some (very few, probably not the schools you are applying to) do not accept the ACT, and some prefer the SAT. Yes, if you took the ACT only, colleges would accept that as a substitute but you still may be required to take SAT IIs.

^
wait so are you saying that you do not have take both in order to get into those good colleges? Or are you saying that i should?

Take both to find out where your strengths lie, although Pton won't accept the ACT if you are applying to other schools that don't mandate the ACT.

I've read on CC that Princeton is now telling folks that it takes either test, period. Also, someone said that next year Wake Forest will accept the ACT.
