Congratulations to everyone who was accepted this year! Thanks for all your help, I would be lost without CC. I had a few questions about our new schools, though. Is dating common at prep schools? Can someone expand a little bit on this topic?
Thanks!

Actually dating is absolutely forbiden........Just kidding, I think some students do and some do not. I know this is the case at middlesex, and I guess that seems about right. Good Luck at Groton, it's a GREAT school!

thanks prepparent :]

getmeintogroton, I want to clarify myself, what I mean by date would be like having a boy/girl friend. However, public display of affection (PDA), should be held in check.

You really scared me when you said that. I'm like... forget boarding school. lol.

What's wrong with PDA? Slipping the tongue against the rules lol?

dating is really weird in boarding school. actually, most of my friends end up saying, at some point or another, "THIS SCHOOL IS SO MESSED UP! people like ARENT normal here!" my best friend, he freaks out and says, "do you know that if we were in public school you would have a boyfriend and id have a girlfriend? people here are so weird, you like cant date them!"

of course you can and of course you might. it is just a little stranger, because you both LIVE on the same campus, and there isnt that freedom of college yet so you are living in like one giant camp where there are rules etc.

i think relationships dont work out at prep school as well as other places, but there are certainly a few that do. however seeing your significant other ALL the time certainly puts a stopper on things at times.

Dating in high school, whether it be boarding, private, or public school, is whatever you make it. You can date people and have fun in high school or you can spend your four years without speaking to someone of the opposite sex (aside from teachers).

Dating at a boarding school is the same at dating people in your hometown public school. And, dande, i disagree. Seeing your significant other ALL the time shouldn't be an issue. Depending on the school, most kids have activities after classes. between the rigors of homework and tewst preparation and that BIG game coming up, you will have a balanced social and academic life.
