Question.

i had no idea where i'm supposed to post this so just decided to post it here. so how exactly do you calculate your gpa? like do you just add the total from 10th &11th grade and divide by four cuz there's four semesters in total?(2 semesters in 10th grade and 2 semesters in 11th grade)

first you convert your letter grades to a 4.0 scale. if your school does weighting add that in too.

heres a sample.

Honors English 4.0
Honors Biology 4.0
AP World History 3.7
Honors Precalculus 3.7
Spanish III 4.0
Band 4.0

then you add it up and its 23.4.

then you divide by 6 because there are 6 classes.

and my gpa is 3.9.

hope this helps.

^ yeah i know how to do the gpa calculation. but my question was when colleges view gpas such as ucla, they only view 10th & 11th grades right? so do they view it as 2 different gpas or do they only view it as one like add both 10th & 11th grade gpas together? thanks~

what? what about 9th grade...

yeah most colleges use 9th 10th and 11th grade gpas.....and its just one cumulative gpa usually......you would have to check with your specific college to be sure.

They will look at your cumulative GPA from all years of highschool so what u did in freshman, sophmore, and junior year counts into ONE GPA. Even if you didn't do that well freshman year, its better for the college to see an improving trend then a worsening trend. for example if you started out with a couple of C's in freshman year and moved to A's in Junior year, that's alot better than gettin A's freshmen year then getting C's junior year.
