<p>Is brown is as much of a hippie/ultra-liberal/intellectually confining place as they say? I am not a conservative, but I am DEFINATELY not a liberal, so I was wondering how well I would actually fit in at Brown… Any help would be appreciated.</p>
<p>Visit the campus and talk with students. I won't lie Brown is really for certain types of folk. Don't get me wrong there's a ton of diversity but it's a love or hate type place.</p>
<p>EXTREMELYYYYYY liberal! If you're conservative, do not go to this school lol. Over half of the people are gay or bi sexual and many smoke pot (the gay part i am not offended by since well I am too but well that's besides the point lol...it's a key factor in picking the school for me.) It depends though; you don't go to a school b/c it's conservative or liberal--i applied to bucknell, which is very conservative, but i am very liberal. lol</p>

<p>I know lots of people who are either independent, moderate, or apathetic. I even know some pretty conservative kids (more than I expected). That said, the overall atmosphere is pretty liberal. Still, I wouldn't let that keep you away, at all. I don't think the atmosphere is suffocating, and I think students like debate and alternate perspectives.</p>
<p>I agree with the above...students love to debate, and if you're making good points, they will appreciate that. Most students are liberal, but not so close-minded that they won't listen to other people. And that being said, depending on who you hang out with, you may never talk about politics anyway.</p>

<p>I think you should be okay for the most part, just don't come near any of us crazies? hahaa Really though, I think Brown has an accepting community and if you don't want to do something then don't do it..nobody's like forcing you to give up what you like/dislike.</p>
