Question

I need to get from NYC to Smith. I plan on taking Greyhound bus, but I'm not sure which would be a better destination, Springfield and Northampton. The Smith website says...

"Most routes go to the main bus terminal in Springfield, where you can catch another bus to Northampton. Buses run hourly between Springfield and Northampton."

The directions are a little vague (for me, at least) because it could mean a lot of things.

Any help and better traveling directions would be much appreciated! This trip would make or break my decision to attend Smith (currently deciding between Smith, Bryn Mawr and Mount Holyoke).

Take the bus to Northampton. You will stop (and most likely change busses) at Springfield, but the bus station in Northampton is a five to ten minute walk to Smith.

Buy a Peter Pan bus ticket to Northampton, and see if you can get a student fare. There's a big transfer terminal in Springfield, where you will transfer to Northampton. Then you get off at the Northampton bus station and walk up towards College Hall (it has a big clock tower on it) and you're here!

Are you needing to get there for Open Campus? We are in Danbury CT and my daughter has accepted her offer to Smith. We are going up on the 19th and would be happy to give you a lift up and back if you can get the train to Brewster, NY. We can pick you up and then head up and then drop you back off. Let me know if you are interested.
