I found this info about CMC:
"there's a reason why the cross country team practices before sunrise. Running during the day would be like smoking a pack of cigarettes".
Is it true that practices start so early? What exactly the time they start running?

Thanks.

1/2 of that statement is correct. I believe they do start practice early in the morning just because it is better running weather. Find me a team that doesn't.... most athletic teams practice in the mornings. Smoking a pack of cigarettes- nonsense. Claremont is situated in a valley- a place that collects smog, fog... and others. Many years ago, Claremont was notorious for the smog. No longer. It is just a lingering stereotype. The air quality really isn't that bad. Sure, there are days that are gross (the first 3 weeks of school) but after that it's nice. But the main reason (to my knowledge) that teams practice in the morning is because Claremont is in the desert! Cross Country season is in September, October, November- who wants to run during the day- it's better that they run in the morning! And, you should check with the coach because some teams don't only run in the morning but again later in the day-

^ Can't find specific practice time info, but does provide plenty of contact info. And Elizzan is at least partially correct...my CA high school team practiced after school and good God, you do not want to do that in this state :p

But just as another note in the issue, most (not all...many winter sports, for one, being exceptions) college ECs tend to take place either very early or very late in the day because everyone is on such different schedules, so odd hours are pretty much the only hope for overlap. I had music rehearsals that went until midnight, even on Thurs. and Fri. nights some semesters...blech.

My old sport tended to mean waking up around 3:00-3:30am, so the good news is that whatever time XC is, it could be worse ;)

But in seriousness, good luck finding the info. You could either try emailing one of the coaches or facebooking one of the athletes.
