Does having a brother at Yale help my chances of getting in or does it mean nothing at all?

no.. a legacy is your mom, dad or grandparents

oh sorry, I'm not asking what a legacy means. I simply wanted to know if siblings gives any kind of boost or second look to a candidate. Thanks!

even though many deny it, i actually think it might help some. there are many (more than I expected) students here who have had siblings go to Yale. around (possibly more) 10 percent of my residential college's freshmen are siblings of current Yalies or Yale alumni.

great, thanks so much. thats all i wanted to know

yes there are a lot of brothers/sisters here at Yale.

Having a sibling does help a bit.

it does help. why? because Yale asks if you have any **relatives/B on the application
but I would agree with others that the bonus is so marginal you shouldn't even be thinking about it
it's not like having a sibling at Yale will make the difference between admission or rejection..
