I'm gonna be taking a an ROTC class at SDSU.

How far is it from UCSD to SDSU?
What do you think is a good source of transportation, to and back?

My parents are not thinking of buying me a car, but do you think I
should make a case that it's absolutely needed?
Thanks in advance.

Its probably twenty five to thirty minutes depending on traffic it could be more or less. U could see if the trolly goes that far to ucsd. You can google the trolly system for san diego and see if it goes there. If not, trolly from sdsu and then wherever it takes you use the buses from there. gd luck

you can always carpool with the other people commuting to SDSU

Carpool sounds like a good idea, only if I were just more outgoing. :(

I'll will have to be taking a class at SDSU 1-2 times a week.
Does it really take about 30 min. to get there?
Given that I don't meet anyone who will also be taking a class there, do you think it's necessary to get a car?

My parent will get one only if deemed absolutely necessary. I too would only consider getting one if it's really necessary.

it IS absolutely necessary to secure some kind of car-based transportation to SDSU. whether it's yours or that of another fellow ROTC cadet (is that what they call you guys?), you WILL need a car to make that commute to state.

unless you like living your life in a bus ... and believe me, you won't want to.

the public transportation system in La Jolla is terrible (the trolley doesn't go all the way to UCSD). If you plan on relying on public transportation to get to SDSU from UCSD, it will take a while and involve at least two transfers (on the bus). Definitely get a car, or find someone with a car
