Question

Do universities choose students who demonstrate interest over students who have higher stats that dont have interest in that school? Im trying to apply at Rice and I have decent ACT score with Writing (30; perfect writing though) and ive done an interview and taken a visit so im not sure if my ACT score will pull my chances down a whole lot.

Depends on the school; typically smaller schools will factor in “demonstrated interest” more than larger schools.

Thanks! Anymore answers?

I think it probably depends on who you are going up against. If there is a kid who is just a little above your stats that has demonstrated little to no interest, you’ll get accepted over him. But if you’re talking about a person with perfect ACTs and better grades and better ECs/awards/etc that has shown little to no interest, they may take that kind of kid over you.
