I decided at the last minute that I want to apply to Alabama. I know I can get accepted but do you think that it is possible for me to get a scholarship when I did not meet the Dec 1 deadline? I have a 32 ACT and a 1320 SAT and a 3.8 GPA. I would have qualified for the Presidential Scholarship, but is it definitely absolutely cut off now?

For scholarships, Dec. 1 is only a priority deadline. You can still apply for scholarships but you will be in the back of the line. You will most likely be wait-listed for a Presidential Scholarship.

so i still have a chance yay! thanks

Oregano:

Please look elsewhere and save the spot for someone who would appreciate it and deserves it. And I quote you, from your earlier post,

"yeah they send me tons of crap and I have never ever ever expressed any interest.
alabama as a state doesn't seem to care about the environment very much anyway...that's why i'm getting out of here"!

Oregano, go ahead and apply to Alabama. I completely understand your change of heart from where you were in your thinking a while back. As the 'days dwindle down', and you get more serious and sober about your prospects, it makes sense to cast a wider net than maybe you initially did. Who cares what your initial thinking was? You have rethought your situation as we all do, and go ahead and act on your latest decision.

Best wishes!

ok BBfromNC you didn't have to be so rude! i changed my mind, thank you. i am a crazy teenager and that is what we tend to do. life is boring if you don't. plus my familial situation changed, and i need to stay closer to home. my earlier comment was talking about how all colleges send way too much mail out to people who are not applying. and it wastes time, paper, money, etc. i also recently visited Alabama, and i like it now. and i do need this scholarship, thank you very much. wanna know how much money my family makes? less than 10,000 a year. some of the people who i know have recieved this scholarship are already rich and they just want to go there to party. so why don't you mind your own business. this thread was for answering my question, not being rude to someone you don't know anything about.

and ivydreaming, thank you! your understanding is appreciated!

Oregano, I would definitely apply. Schools know that students can change their minds. My son did. Six months ago, UA wasn't even in his thoughts. Now, he has visited twice, and he really likes the school. Besides, the economy changed his thinking. UA offered him a great package and lots of opportunities. Once you get in, you can speak with financial aid and the scholarship office about your situation.

Much good luck to you.

thanks! i totally agree. sounds like i did the same thing your son did
