A few questions 1- i no that there is a list of things for you to bring but can you ever bring other stuff for times that you can leave campus such as civ clothes or cell phones? If so when would you be able to bring it? Do your parents have to bring it to you? Ill start of with that question and then ill continue... thanks

I was told you can only leave the campus in your dress uniform or something of that nature so I don't think you'll be needing street clothes. Not completely positive about that though.

im guessing your class of 2013? what state are you from? do you no anything about cell phones? My friend jake goes to west point and said that he texts ppl all the time and can have it....

Okay, just a pet peeve here SeaKid so take it for what it's worth: if you have received a nomination to KP you definately know proper grammar so please use a bit of it in your posts. I realize it's an internet forum so proper grammar isn't necessarily expected, but use a little please.

To answer your questions: 1) Cell Phones: Plebes are allowed to have cell phones; however, for a while in the beginning you are only allowed them on Sundays, it will progress further as the year goes on.

2) Civilian clothes: as a candidate/plebe/midshipman 4th class you will be required to leave and return to the Academy in dress uniform. If you are more than a certain distance away you can change out of your uniform. Plebes are also not allowed to store civilian clothes in their room so don't take a bunch. It is more practical to have your parents bring some on acceptance day than to bring them all when you report.

1) Cell phone use is restricted. It will be collected on I-day and returned to you on Sundays for your phone calls home. Gradually you'll get it back more often. Plebe D still has some restrictions on the hours she can use hers during the week.

2) Plebe D currently has access to one set of civilian clothes. We bring her clothes when we meet her. When they go into NYC on liberty, they wear uniforms.

SeaKid--I agree completely with kp2001, please try to use better grammer :)

You will receive all the information you need to report for Indoc. In the meantime, don't worry about it, and enjoy your last few months at home with your family.

If you really are intent on getting information, there still may be a copy of the Logging in Book for the class of 2012 on line. Main page of United States Merchant Marine Academy bottom of the page, look for "Logging In Class 2012," or something to that effect.

Ok sorry about my "horrid grammar" I figured that this is a forum and it would not matter. But if such little things bother the few I will gladly use "proper grammar." Forgive me for my incompetence.

Anyways does anyone know what the average salary is of a KP graduate? Also what is KP ranked among other colleges?

P.S. KP2001 I suggest you focus on your spelling "definately" is not a word.

Seakid, I wouldn't worry about the proper grammar if I were you. It looks like you should spend that time learning what respect for those in authority entails.

Seakid....

I don't expect people to use perfect grammar when posting; however, I had noticed in many of your posts that you seemed to be way outside the bell curve and it was difficult to read your posts at times because of it.

As to your other questions, well hopefully somebody who is a graduate who can spell will come by and answer it for you....If I type a word incorrectly while typing at at a decent speed, well so be it.

Or learn to spell "grammar" properly when correcting others. ;)

Luigi you are a brat....:D but I still like ya!
