Are you allowed to ever double major in Acting, or even Minor in it while majoring in something completely else??

@ a fine Acting college???

I know Depaul said that you could major in BFA and in something else, since that's what most of their students do (I talked to a rep.). Anywhere else?

Thanks

Mikey, are you asking (forgive me for being confused!) if there are programs where you can be an acting major and still major (at the same time) in something else, such as, well, engineering or English (just pulled two majors out of my pocket as an example)?

Is that what you want to know?

I think the answer is "yes," there are programs that let you do that and in which you would have time to do that in four years. I am not an expert (perhaps soozievt, who is a college counselor for CC, can chime in here) but I would venture to say that it is quite difficult -- though not impossible -- to double major if you are earning a BFA in acting, and would be easier if you were pursuing a BA acting program.

yah, I think I'm going with BA. But, what's the difference again? and what fine acting colleges offer this?

oh and what's the difference between a M.F.A/B.A In acting???

an M.F.A is Masters of Fine Arts and that would be grad school.

I think you're thinking of B.F.A versus B.A.

A BFA is Bachelors of Fine Arts and a BA is just Bachelors of Arts. Usually (or at least at my school) a BFA is more of a conservatory program where you do more acting/theatre courses in order to graduate (you also have to apply and be accepted and must be involved in a certain number of shows and invite the BFA committee to see them, then again that might just be my school that does that)... and the BA you get a more well-rounded theatre curriculum (instead of just acting & performing, you do tech classes as well) and you take more liberal arts courses and gen. eds. I hope that makes sense.
