question

do you know alot of people who are accepted to cal poly but not going?

No. Most people accepted that I know are going. I think with the economy a lot of students had to reevaluate their priorities when making final decisions on college. If they had two top schools to choose from, one private and Cal Poly, they really had to put things into perspective about which one to choose. And Cal Poly is a great school, though the admitted student meeting that we went to last week was a real turnoff with the admissions person being a real negative jerk. Everyone walked out going, Whoa, does he not want us to come here.

What was the admissions person so negative about?

I don’t know anyone that was accepted

His attitude was very negative instead of focusing on the positive aspects of the school and the majors he was more concerned about telling us over and over that it was almost impossible to change majors. I think most everyone there was aware of that. He basically left a lot of us with a bad impression. As an alumni of the school I was very anxious for my daughter to get a good impression as she was really trying to make a final decision. On the other hand we had a great tour guide Jen who was awsome!

Sorry to hear that. Was he a general admissions person or affiliated with one of the colleges?
Having gone through this process a few years ago with my other son it’s amazing what a difference a good tour guide can make…at least with us it did.

general admissions. The business tour and dept were fantastic.

My son is in business admin so glad to hear you were happy with that dept.
