Hi I was born in China but immigrated to Canada and got my citizenship. So, I am officially a Canadian citizen. So, when I hand in my application for an American university, do i get put into the international students (students in china, india etc.) section or the NORMAL section?

hi koreavancouver,
first off- internationals aren’t abNORMAL people! haha! though i’m sure you didn’t mean it THAT way. aren’t canadians supposed to be internationals as well (according to US universities)? i think you would be treated as an international applicant.

It depends. Most, probably all colleges will regard you as an international student admission-wise. Normally even US-citizens educated abroad are put and compared to the international pool. However some universities will treat Canadians differently when it comes to financial aid(if you need any). For example the University of Pennsylvania is need-blind towards domestic, mexican AND canadian citizens but not to any other internationals.

You’re right silence… UPenn isn’t the only one… A lot of universities have special admissions and aid considerations for Canadians, Mexicans and Cubans… koreavancouver, you should really research and find which universities these are

We Canadians are still considered international. The only part where your Asian heritage comes into play is when they just ask you for your ethnicity.
