Question

I have a situation that I think could possibly affect my chances of admission: Sophmore year, I got a C+ (the only C I've EVER gotten) in my Honors English class, partly because the teacher is senile and insane. In my honors english class before and my AP Lit class after, I have gotten a B+ and B, respectively, as well as getting a 5 on the AP test. I have also asked my guidance counselor to explain the notorious situation in his letter of rec. Do I have any reason to be worried?

I got a F in AP Calc, D- in AP Statistics and a C in history all in my senior year and still got in. IU was my safety. YOU will have no problems.

Not really at all. I had 2 C’s, one in an honors english class and the other in AP chem, but my overall weighted gpa was over 5 on a 5 scale with a good ACT, and I was accepted into the honors college. if your overall gpa is good and you have good test scores one C won’t matter.

Thank you guys! That helps calm my nerves haha.

Note that the people above got in despite poor grades in HONORS courses.

If you are getting poor grades in non-honors courses, then getting admitted will be more difficult.

Nope, it was one bad grade in an honors course.

I got in! :)

That’s great news! Congratulations starsfromhere. Now you can enjoy the rest of your senior year.

Congratulations! You’re going to love IU.

Congrats starsfromhere.

Tulare, how is your child (D??) finding IU. Mine is LOVING it. Loves her floor and roommate, likes her classes, and is really enjoying it. It makes me happy to know she’s happy.

Congratulations on getting in! I hope you decide to attend…I’m a freshman this year and it is AMAZING here. I absolutely love everything about this place! Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

Congratulations and best of success during your time at IU-B.

My D is happy and loving IU too. And she keeps hearing how beautiful it is in the fall and is eager to send me lots of photos once the leaves start changing. Coming from California, it’s fun for her to be in a place with distinct seasons!

Thank you so much for all the well wishes! I am so excited to have one acceptance under my belt, and to my first choice. :)
