Question

Do people take both the Math 1 and Math 2 Subject Tests?

and

Do people take both the Calc AB test and the Calc BC test?

Thanks!

It depends…

You can either take the SAT Math 1 or 2, though I would imagine most MIT applicants take the Math 2. I mean, there’s no point in taking 1 if you know all the stuff in 2…

As for the APs, it depends on the school. My public high school says either one or the other, but the private high school I go to requires AB before BC. So yeah, just check with your school. In my case, although I have to take AB before BC, it’s all good because I get to take Multivariate senior year while my public school only goes up to BC.

Well, I’m in BC right now, (9th) and my school only lets ppl take AB or BC. Would it make sense to take both and have another 5 on your application?

Also, will MIT look at any Harvard Extension courses or any distance ed courses?

The College Board doesn’t permit taking the AB and BC exams in the same year.

Just take BC, as there is an AB sub-score.

^^I agree with Synder005’s advice.

what’s after BC at your school, is it an AP class or something else? Or are you done with math…lol BC in 9th grade…wow

Well there is AP Statistics, which seems to be the way to go, seeing as I need to fufill my math credits.

But have any of you done math courses at Harvard Extension or any kind of college courses in the college itself?

take Multivariable, liner algebra, and differential equations after Calc BC at your local university :)

Sometimes, I wish I went to bigger schools where a wider variety of courses were offered.

@Djokovic, that was actually what I wanted to do, I was just unsure of what came after Multivariable calc.

Thanks!
