Question!

I didn't want the title to give away what I was going to ask because then I don't think as many people would post!:/

Anyway, I've been thinking about this and I'm curious to see what some of your thoughts are regarding this issue.

Are we born evil or do we become evil?

I know it's not just a yes or no answer and to be honest, I believe it is neither. However, as I stated, I'm curious to see what you guys think:>

Both.

IMO, evil can be born, cultivated, or by choice/circumstance.

Like everything else in life, it is a combination of genetic and social factors.

It’s probably more influenced by one’s surroundings and how one perceives them, but I think it’s both.

Ok, I posted this in the parents forum too and they are extremely responsive! :> lol

^^^If it’s by choice, can that choice be alternated? Can one change from being evil to good? Would you also say that perception is involved? What one considers evil could be considered good to another.

^^If it’s relevant to genetics, where did this trait come from? Why are relatives of murderers not portraying the same traits? Is it really inevitable that those people would commit crimes? I would think this could be alternated as well, or at least controlled to a certain extent. If one’s exposed to evil, or what society believes to be evil, and the individual begins to act evil, would that mean that they truly are? After all, it’s solely due to their subjection.

I found this on the internet:
If we are born evil, then all humans are bound to follow a specific path, which means that the creator of that individual has predestined that individual for evil acts, somethign that in turn would suggest that the creator is evil?

I don’t agree with this, but I found it relatively intriguing.

Become evil. People can only be born with genetic traits that may predispose them towards being evil more than other human beings, but in no case is someone born in a situation so void of free will that they are 100% destined to become “evil” (of course this is all imo).
