Question

If I got a 5 on my AP US Gov't exam back in high school, does it count as having taken Polysci 40? If so, does that mean I only need to take 3 lower division courses to enter the polysci major since that would count as having taken one?

I was just looking over the AP credit site (AP Credit - College of Letters and Science - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions) and it never explicitly said it gives credit for "PS 40", it just said "Pol Sci - United States."

No, I’m pretty sure it doesn’t count. I’m a history major and I took AP U.S. and World History in high school, and even though those courses are kinda-sorta considered the equivalent of certain lower-div classes here, taking them in HS didn’t get me out of any of the pre-reqs for the major.

Thanks. 10char

yeah, Raychul is right, you won’t get any course credit for APUSH (or many other AP classes, for that matter).

For any other questions like this, you should find [AP Credit - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/APCredit.htm) very helpful.

Best,
