question

hey guys,

so my friend applied to vandy.

he recently got a 68 in Calculus BC. Apparently math is not his strength, lol. anyways, he is top 15% and has a 33 ACT. he thinks that failing his first semester will automatically disqualify him. I told him no, but what do you guys think?

Btw, he is applying as a chemistry major.

thanks.

Admissions gets harder and harder every year. I will tell you that I did very poorly in BC Calc my senior year of high school, had a similar ACT score (although my SAT sucked), and I got in.
Vanderbilt isn’t just a grades-only school. The admissions department really does look for well-rounded people. Anyway, there’s no harm in applying!
