I applied to FSU about an hour before the deadline on the 20th for the fall term. Do I have a chance to get accepted because on the status it says they havent received my transcripts yet. I also had the Act send my scores .

Hard to say, but you did not enhance your chances by applying so late.

i wrote my essay in about 30 minutes too but I thought it was pretty damn good

Umm… I don’t think anyone can really tell you anything you want to hear if you’re only going to tell us that you wrote a 30 minute essay and submitted everything an hour before the deadline.

What were your scores, GPA, etc.?

~3.3 GPA
23 ACT
Played baseball and diving
Part asian so hopefully that helps

Spring applicants are held to higher standards than fall applicants. Being late won’t help your case either.

I’ll be honest with you because there isn’t enough honestly out there. An essay written in 30 minutes, not having transcripts and test scores in before the deadline and a GPA of 3.3 and ACT of 23… NOT A CHANCE IN HELL! Sorry, look at other regional schools in Florida or community college, you won’t get into FSU for summer or fall 2010.

^Agree with FSULeon - now that your stats are posted. Good luck at JC or maybe a regional school.

I recommend re-taking the ACT and applying for spring 2011 if you can break 25-26 or starting at a CC and transferring in two years. A 23 is not an awful ACT score, but not good enough for FSU-- especially with mediocre grades and a late application.

On the other hand, every now and then something about an application will be compelling enough to solicit an offer from the school. Good luck!

^^^
doesnt fsu not accept spring applications for freshman?

ANd I dont want to risk taking time off then not getting accepted

You don’t have to take time off…just go to CC until you raise your scores and then transfer.

My son applied for spring and was accepted as a freshman. He, like you, applied very late in the process. He had very high ACT scores, but rather low grades, so while he was a good early candidate, he didn’t have the stellar scores needed for late admission. He was told to by FSU to apply for spring and there were about 200 new spring freshmen when he went through orientation. He was also told that he could go to CC during the fall so that he wouldn’t fall behind. (He chose to work instead since he had 14 AP credits already). Therefore, to answer your question - FSU does accept spring freshmen, but I don’t know whether they need to be invited to apply or not (meaning I don’t know whether the spring freshmen are pulled only from borderline fall applicants).

Good luck – with a fair amount of study most students are able to raise the ACT score by 3 points and I really think a 26 will open many more doors than a 23.

would it be ard for me to transfer to here from a university
