Is Duke the kind of school which highly dislikes accepting more than 1 student from the same high school? Or do they not even look at which high school you are from?
I'm just curious, because though I was accepted, I know a couple people with my exact same stats who were not, and I just don't understand why.

You were better.

no, that’s not true at all.
But do college really do that? I think I heard that from one of my counselors, but I can’t remember. I know they definitely check by region, so they can get geographic diversity, and I tried looking it up online, but I couldn’t find anything.

There are less than 100 students in the senior class at our school. I know of at least four (maybe more? ) students were accepted. One student was wait listed, one rejected. I don’t know about the others who applied. No, they do not just accept one student from a school.

That’s very interesting. Thanks for the info, hoping4duke!

Every time I see this thread title I think of Dwight K. Schrute

5 Asians strong in science/math (including me) applied from my school. I was the only one who was accepted, although we’re all kinda similar. Crapshooooot.

I got accepted and so did another person from my school. A total of four applied, so we went 50%. not too bad.

To understand a little bit more of the dynamics that go into choosing the students, read this week’s three part series on the admissions process at Duke, published in the Duke Chronicle.
