Question

Why is everyone going crazy about getting into the Ivy Leagues?
I personally want to get into Brown or Princeton (Undergraduate focus)( I used to but than i thought, whatever happens happens, if i get in great, if i don't well... i will go to another school i like 2nd) so bad, but i am not really stressing out about it anymore. Why is everyone so stressed about it? Like the world is ending if they don't get into one of the ivy leagues.

… and your point is what? Posting on a Harvard forum…

The issue here is not the schools themselves, but rather the popular implications that have become closely associated with them over time. There’s no denying that the term “Ivy League” instantly creates a very positive impression, and will cause the vast majority of people to believe the person in question must always be highly intelligent and successful. It is true that there are countless schools outside the Ivy League that offer superb undergraduate academic programs and outstanding facilities, yet there are considerable numbers of people, most notably foreign nationals, who are not aware of them. The sad truth is that we live in a very shallow society that is abundant in ignorance and misinformation, which is almost always one cause of pressure when it comes to applying to top schools.
