questionnnn

ok so im sure theres a million of these kinds of posts out here but. should i take the writing portion of the ACT? i did relatively well on the writing SAT and i dont plan to do anything with writing in college. But i am applying to some top schools so idk if they care...answers would be very much appreciated!

Yes you should, most colleges prefer the ACT with writing.

check the policy of the schools you want to go to. if they want it. they have it posted on their website. if they dont want it, i wouldn’t take it.

it’s only another 30 minutes; take the writing portion.

Warning. Many students do NOT take the writing portion. So with the cream of the crop kids only, your percentage may be lower than you like. Both my kids did much better on the SAT essays. My son had an 800 on his Reading SAT and 690 on Writing SAT… but 6 (29%) on ACT essay.

If you opt for ACT writing, make sure you do some prep to see what they are looking for. You can select which ACT date scores to send to a college, but you cannot elect to send w/o the essay if you took it.
