Questions about 1st semester senior grades

Do colleges ask for your 1st semester senior grades when they are finalized, after you have submitted in your application, and use them for the admission process?

My school's first semester ends at the end of January.

It depends on the school. The more competitive the school is, the higher chance you have of them asking for your 1st semester grades. Many private schools require them.

I wish someone had told me that the whole “1st semester senior year doesn’t matter” myth was just that- a myth. Those grades can have a really positive impact on your application if they’re strong, and it’ll help work out in your favor if you’re deferred/waitlisted.

Really? I hope so, because my freshman/sophomore years were terrible. I’m gravely depending on what I did this year and what I will do next year.

Do you know which schools specifically ask for senior grades?

Also- my school’s first semester ends at the end of January.

I know USC does. I also know that a lot of schools on the Common App require it as well as a part of the Mid-Year Report.

Otherwise I’m not too certain. Sorry!

so if I don’t make straight 70s my second semester senior year am I trying too hard? or am I still trying too hard because I don’t have to make a 70 to pass the class for the year if I did better the first semester
