That's good advice.

Sounds like prison...or boot camp...eh.

Thanks for the advice and comments everyone. I recently talked to the school and they told me this room was an 8 person one last year. They also told me it is one of 2 rooms on this floor of the dorm. That is a positive sign as I have stayed in a double in that dorm and the hallways are long, so I am sure the room is HUGE like they said. I talked to my new friend Mike about this and I think that if we go in with positive attitudes, that this situation will be managable, and maybe even work out awesome. Thanks for all the advice and help, but now I am feeling excited again for school.

Good luck.

And tell us how it actually is!

Yeah let us know. I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone reports back after the first few days.

njdhockey,

You might be surprised. Some kids actually love this arrangement. It actually gives them more anonymity than a double, and they like having their friends around.

Also, you're unlikely to be "sexiled."

The best part - you have a large selection of guys to meet and be friends with. In a double you might not like your roomie but you're stuck with him, with 5 other guys there's bound to be someone you like!

Courtesy will be important - everyone keeping their stuff in their own area.

It is very hard to study in dorms anyway, so find a good place to study and visit it often.

Have fun!

You're def. not alone, and don't worry about it so much. It's probably only going to be for a semester at most and I'm sure it won't be as bad as you think it will be. I'm in almost the same situation at my school, although I have 7 people in my dorm room, and no it's also not a suite. It will be an adjustment, but it shouldn't be as bad as you're thinking. And no it's not illegal in any way, what's illegal is telling people that they can no longer attend the institution becuase they need the dorm rooms, so this is by far a better situation than being booted before your first semester.

please tell what school it is.

I'm going to Penn State, I don't know about the op. PSU had a lot more freshman this year than expected so yeah.

yes, at my school we often have 4 people in a single room. you will survive :)

this thread has really made me appreciate my universities housing...
