Is it necessary to take AP courses to get accepted at Tech, or does it just increase your chances? I hear alot of Tech students saying they took tons of them. My high school doesn't offer any AP courses, so I was wondering if that would decrease my chance of acceptance.
Also, I volunteer alot, so would that outweigh the fact that I haven't taken any AP courses?

I recently was accepted into Georgia Tech this year and I took six AP courses overall. Schools like seeing a rigorous schedule, but if your school does not offer them hopefully GT will recognize that. One option I would suggest is to take an AP class at a local community college near your home since your school does not offer any. I am sure that colleges will notice the fact that you took the initiative to take an AP class. Lastly, to answer you question about volunteering, colleges love to see a student with community service hours. I hope I helped you out.

Georgia Tech into account how many honors/AP class are available in your high school. I have friends at Tech who didnt take any AP classes because there high school did not offer them.

I think the average amount of APs for accepted students is ~3, according to the most recent data I’ve heard anyway. Obviously it’s a different situation if your school doesn’t offer APs, but if they do, it’s pretty important that you take them, especially if they’re related to your potential major or interests.
