I have a few questions about how Penn handles things…

Do freshman (hs) grade count as much as others?

If you dont get in to Wharton, can you go to Penn and transfer in later?

If Penn is a reach, are my chances better with ED (assuming its my first choice)?

Not sure

With Penn, you apply to one school. So if you apply to Wharton and get rejected, you cannot reapply to CAS or something. You can either apply to CAS and try to transfer into Wharton (which I hear is even harder than getting in as a freshman) OR you can try going to another school and applying as a transfer student, which is also difficult.

Yes. Penn is an ED whore. I actually saw a site with exact stats, but now I can't remember where. However, Penn ED was something like 21% acceptance vs. 12% RD. Something like that.

thanks for the info

In general, no. Your junior year grades are much more important, especially if they demonstrate continuing commitment to achieving at the same or higher levels as in previous years (steadily improving grades are a good thing in the eyes of the admissions committee).
