Questions about Admissions!!!

Would Michigan prefer a prospective applicant take four years of science, or more AP courses? I am considering taking another AP course instead of a regular science class, so I was wondering if they would frown upon that.

If my UM GPA was 3.89 would that be a 3.8 or a 3.9? Or just a 3.89 haha.

What ACT score should I strive for? On my first try I got a 30, so I was wondering was I should shoot for next.

How much do ECs matter? I have about 2 really solid ones, and besides that I pretty much have nothing. If I enforce that one of these (a sport) takes up pretty much ALL of my time, would that be a positive thing?

Thanks so much! And if it helps, I was planning on getting my application in as early as possible next year!

Oh and I'm OOS (Illinois)

I believe UMich recommends 3-4 science credits. But make sure to take a few AP courses to show that you can handle tougher classes.

It's just a 3.89 I believe

30 is good enough, but higher can't hurt, just do what you think your capable of

EC's matter, but not as much as they do at some other schools since UMich has such a large # of applicants, is public, thus more number-driven. However, they DO matter, and you should show at least a few good EC's.

With a 3.89 + 30 I believe your a match for UMich. And yes, make sure to apply asap

I got in with 3 science credits. If its not your thing its not your thing and you shouldn't waste a credit on it when you can take something that better plays to your interests.

Thank you both!

I do have good ECs (Soccer and Newspaper) that I am very dedicated to so hopefully that'll be good enough.

Since it's okay that I only have 3 science credits I think I may take that extra AP course (Euro History) instead...history is much more appealing to me!

Take what is more interesting/fun for you, otherwise you will be like me by this time of year, wanting to scream every time you enter your school.

I got in with only 3 years of science too (but lots of social science...)
