I perused the Amherst forum for a little while but was unable to find a thread answering most of my queries. So, if someone doesn’t mind helping me out please? :)

First of all, I was attracted to Amherst because of the size of the student body. I love the idea of being a “tightly-knit community” of over-achievers. But is that the true ‘feel’ at Amherst?

Secondly, this may be a completely misinformed perception, but Amherst seems to me to be similar to several New England boarding schools (Exeter, Andover, etc.), except at the college level, rather than the high school level. Is that perception a correct one?

Third, how difficult is it to maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher at Amherst? I plan to major in English Language & Literature - General.

And lastly, to any current or former student, what attracted you to Amherst? What made it so appealing to you?

Thanks!
