Questions about AP Calculus AB

Alright...so what exactly IS AP Calculus AB? Is there trigonometry? Are there still identities? What new stuff do you learn that's not in Algebra II or Precalculus? What's on the AP exam?

^ adobe pdf doesn’t work on my computer :(

Using your knowledge of trig and identities, which is part, you study the workings of functions.

You learn the derivative, the integral, certain series(I forget the name)
And other topics.

You could just visit the AP website and look up AP Calc AB

^^What? Can’t you download it?

^Taylor series? I believe that BC topic unless you’re talking about another type.

Oh yeah, nvm the series thing.

Also, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. And a bit of Differential Equations.

Limits, Derivatives, Applications of the Derivatives, Integral, Applications of the Integral, Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, and some sequences/series.

Alright ty guys. So there’s absolutely NO identities and proving them in Calc AB right? Those are so annoying haha

Eh, there might be. But by calc you should know the identities and be able to prove them, but you use them.

^^No identities, but you should know them. Moreover, Proving is not annoying. It is actually fun to do. Memorizing the identities is annoying.

You should know identities. You don’t need to know identity proofs.

identities are mostly useful for things like trigonometric substitution. you don’t need them all that much for AB but they’re pretty essential for calc BC. BC covers integration in much more detail than AB does.

calc ab? once you learn what a derivative is then you’re set! :)

^Don’t forget the integral.

proofs are fun. definitely the most fun part of trig imo.

Calc is a different beast. If you are a math minded person that can think intuitively about functions and equations, you will love it.

The only identity you really need to know is the pythagorean identity.

^^ yay cool, i love functions
^ woot!
