I took the sat in october and got a 1900, however im sure i could do much better if i studied. I want to get into berkeley and i was wondering if there is still time to take another sat. If so how do i send the scores in on time? and do i have any chance of getting in? Finally should i also try to take the act again, because i made a 30 on it without the required writing section.
thanks

oh yeah and is there anyway to include the act without writing score?

Yes, both the November and December sittings of the SAT are acceptable for UC applications.
You can designate the UC as a score recipient when you sign up for the test online or on test day when you bubble in your identifying information.
The UCs will only consider the ACT WITH writing, so sending it without the writing score would be pointless. The December sitting of the ACT is also acceptable for UC admission, so you could schedule it WITH the writing section for UC consideration. As with the SAT, designate a UC as a score recipient when you sign up or when you fill in identifying information on test day.

One other note: If you are applying for Fall 2011 admissions, you must also submit two SAT subject tests in two different areas to be eligible for admission. If you have not completed your subject tests, you should schedule them for the November or December sittings.

Good luck!

Thanks, one more question though
when i apply in November, which i’m going to do as soon as i receive my subject test scores from the November 6 sat i’m taking, should i include my 1900 sat score? When i send in my new test scores after the November 30 deadline, will they look at the new scores instead? Also if my ACT turns out to be much better than a 1900 on the sat will they look at that instead of my weak sat too?

Yes, include your 1900 score in your application since that is going to be the only score available to you at the time. The UCs will look at the highest single sitting score. Say you put 1900 on your app but in December you get 2000 and you send that score report in, the UCs will look at the 2000. The UCs will look at whichever score is better, your SAT or ACT. So if you do happen to do better on the ACT, they’ll look at that.

ok thanks for all the help!

Good luck with your applications!
Remember to send in the UC app before Thanksgiving because the server WILL crash during the last 2 days (trust me, I know from personal experience, haha). Come back to CC if you have any questions.
