questions about applying to universities in the uk!

hi everyone!

so lately ive been thinking about applying to a few schools in the UK. but since im completely unfamiliar with the application process, i have two main questions.

first, in the US, i know that they look at your grades from all four years of high school. im from canada, and here, they only look at your current grade 12 average from when you apply. in the UK, what grades do they look at? i would suspect that it would lean more towards here in canada, since our school systems are pretty similar from what i hear, but i honestly have no clue and can’t find anything concrete on google.

my second question, is that some schools ask for “A levels” in some subjects for certain majors. but it says that other tests can be equivalent to these. what are some equivalent things i could take in the US or canada?

thank you so much for reading!

bump!

You need to take AP tests in subjects related to your future “course” or major. Your GPA or ECs will not count - only your results on APs.
Subject tests with high scores can substitute for a couple APs.

The UK universities have really detailed information available online. For most courses at most universities, if you meet the posted requirements you have a good chance of being offered a place. You will find the equivalent requirements for international students on the websites, but as a rule of thumb you can figure that an A or A* at A-level is more or less a 5 on the same AP, or a strong 700 (some unis, a strong 600) on the SATII subject test.

Very simply go to the websites of the universities which you are interested in, select the international student section and look up admissions requirements for Canadian students.
