Do many students attend the overnight visits unaccompanied by their parents?
Do the parents who are attending with their children typically stay on campus during the entire time? For example, do parents sit in on classes, as well?

I am clueless about this, so I would appreciate any help. DH will be accompanying my son and he'd like to combine some Chicago business meetings with the campus visit.

I’m from Ohio but when I went for an overnight visit, I and all the rest of the kids in my group did the whole overnight experience (including sitting in on classes) without parents. I did see a kid meet up with his parent before his interview the next day, but in general, I don’t think parents usually accompany their children on these visits. I mean, it’s a good experience to be away from the parents for a little while anyway. Hope that helps.

Oh and I actually flew to Chicago by myself; however, I have relatives who live in the area that picked me up and took me to campus. Entirely possible ;-)

I think you have figured it out. There may be an event or two at which parents are welcome, but generally they are not part of the program. Don’t expect to stay on campus or monitor classes. Combining escorting your son with a business trip (which would occupy your time outside Hyde Park) would be a great idea.
