My mom called NEU today to ask some $$ questions, so I had her ask them about AP tests. They said to bring AP scores to orientation, so she asked about APs taken this year. The lady told her that we had to bring those too, so my mom tried to explain that the scores aren't available until July. She then responded that we should have chosen a later orientation date. Is this legit? Why didn't they inform me of this before? I guess I should have figured this out, but I really wanted to go to June orientation. Does this just mean that I can't use AP credit for any first semester courses?

no, I went to the first orientation. They’ll basically trust you for your score until its available. If you think you got a 5 on AP Chem, you can elect to opt out of it and take the next chem class. If your scores back you up, then you’re fine. If not, then they’ll probably contact you.

Thanks for the response! The lady also told her that there are no placement tests… is that true? She said they just go by your transcript (as well as AP scores I’m assuming) and put you in the next class.

Yeah I didn’t take any placement tests except for foreign language. It’s not even required for that, but the professor will usually ask you to take the test so that they can make sure you aren’t actually a failure and should be in a different class.

Try not to take classes that you might be able to exempt out of. For instance, if you took Calc BC and think you got a 4, you might not want to sign up for Calc 3 first semester if you don’t HAVE to, just in case.

i was wondering where you get official scores from last year even.
i had collegeboard send my scores to northeastern, which should include last year’s scores, but i don’t still have the paper with last year’s results i don’t think.

will they believe me if i just tell them what i got on last year’s tests? the scores should be coming in the mail along with this year’s scores, i’d assume. hopefully i’ll just get my results before orientation.
