Questions about cadet life

Ok...so the message I'm getting is-issued sheets on my bed, but not using them because I'll be sleeping on top of them, and straightening it out in the morning so I don't get my bed flipped and have to re-fold it.

Got it.

Bossf51:

I've gotten a nomination and an appointment offered...all I have to do is accept-which I plan to do.

Yeah my question is during BCT how much time do you have for showers bathroom breaks, eating ya know the semi important stuff?

Half of BCT is going to the bathroom. Not really but you are required to drink so many canteens an hour based on the heat. Cadre let you have potty breaks usually once an hour because the water is running through you. You'll need it because 1. it's July, you're closer to the sun and most people aren't used to the environment and 2. the altitude.

You get one shower a night. Very short. I'll just say that. Also after intramurals, do wrestling if you want longer showers, ha. 2nd BCT stinks because you get the same amount of time to shower, and there are
less showers. The girls and guys both get the same amount of time, yet there are more guys. You get the point.

Eat three times a day at mitch during 1st BCT and in mess tents out at Jacks during 2nd BCT.
Tip: Eat a lot of peanut butter, especially during 2nd BCT because you'll need the calories. DEEEEEP ROCK!

...basically you get just enough time to eat so that you don't waste away to nothing (I think the second part in Jacks valley you have more time b/c they have to file everyone theough the chow tent) as for showers I don't think you get that many...basically everyone smells terrible!

Word on the street is (correct me if I'm wrong) that after "personal hygiene time" at night they can't train you, but that's a very low percentage of time during the entire 6 weeks.

PeAcE

So what should "basics" wear to inprocessing...jeans, athletic clothes, sneaks, sandals...

And how do we get all the stuff we're issued...sheets...oh, and what are we issued? Should I even bother to pack anything when I come?

I think they will send you all that information when it gets closer to Inprocessing Day.

How do you carry all that stuff:

<a href="http://www.usafa.af.mil/cadetFocus/cadetPhotos/2009/inprocessing/gallery2/pages/_CPS5549.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.usafa.af.mil/cadetFocus/cadetPhotos/2009/inprocessing/gallery2/pages/_CPS5549.htm</a></p>

Just look around at all the pictures. Most of the ''basics'' wear jeans and tshirts/collared shirts. I'd personally go with a collared shirt so you can wear your boots around your neck under the collar and it won't rub your skin as much

Don't wear anything with Air Force written on it. You'll be made fun of for it.

Inprocessing will get you everything. You get a lot of big white and green bags. At least I did. Bring Extra underwear for Jacks because stuff gets dirty and muddy and you'll probably only get 1 chance for laundry or none like me. Don't worry about that though. just bring extra underwear (you'll be issued some anyways). And bring shaving stuff boys, unless you want to use issued shaving gear. I brought my electric.

The only thing you need to bring is your game face and some underwear.

referring to a "game face" is that some kind of inside code?

Underwear and shaving stuff...check.

I was just wondering if there were any sort of rules on underwear, or since you wear it under it doesn't matter...

MailMan...that's a good question. I've wondered the same thing...especially during BCT.

well...during basic you want to be as comfortable as possible...so whatever that means...

What I've heard for girls is that all undergarments are to be white.

actually i don't think there are color requirements. I wouldn't wear boxers (guys), you'll want support. Just get boxer briefs. conservative.

Also you might want to buy a couple of solid black t-shirts to wear under your BDUs. it would be nice to have a couple extra clean pair.

boxer briefs...

...on it.

This is kinda akward, but with sports bras...wouldn't you get "harrassed" if it was visible through your white PC shirt? I would tend to think it doesn't look "professional."

I was just thinking...you know...it's also distracting.

Well just make sure it can't be seen, white is okay.

For "personal hygiene" time, are you rushed through a "massive" shower area or what? How much time do you have?

I'm pretty sure there are communal showers.
