My freshman d lives in Capstone right now and also chose to live there again next year as a sophomore. She does not have a car at USC and probably will not have one until junior year. Her friend from high school is a sophomore who is an International Business major. She also lived in Capstone freshman year without a car and did not have any issues. She also worked on campus. Capstone is a bit of a walk to a few of my d’s classes and I think it might be a bit of a walk to the gym, but my d doesn’t mind it at all. I’m not really sure where Darla Moore is, so I can’t answer that question. My d has found that many of her OOS friends do not have cars. Most of her friends from SC do. That makes sense since many of her OOS friends live pretty far from USC (Calif,Chicago, Boston…to name a few). She has never had an issue finding someone to drive her off campus if she needs something at the grocery store, Target, Walmart etc. I think that not having a car freshman year is doable, however, once you move off campus then a car would be nice. My d chose to live in Capstone again next year for that reason(since she wont have a car yet). I can tell you that she and her friends are very social. My d is not one to sit in her dorm…so it has not posed a problem and she has met many, many people. She has four or five friends from our high school who are all there without cars this year. All are doing fine and are very happy there. There are many business majors in Capstone also, so if you did need a ride I’m sure you will have no trouble finding one.

Capstone and Columbia Hall are the closest dorms to the Darla Moore Business School. Extremely close! You only need a car if you plan to have an off campus job. I am not sure about shuttles to the night spots.

The above is true for the current building but the new Darla Moore building is being built near the Strom fitness center which is a decent walk from Capstone.

lol. You will not be driving between classes (unless you’re just very lazy).

I didn’t have a car my freshman or sophomore year and the only time I needed one was going home for breaks, going grocery shopping, or going to the mall. But I had friends with cars and I just pitched in for gas.

If something is truly a far walk (which, say Capstone to the Engineering building), then USC has a pretty good bus system that is quick and runs very regularly.

And now students have 20 min. between classes (before this year it was 15). It’s been a long time since I was in school, but I was a journalism student and regularly walked between Coliseum (next to new business school) and classroom buildings near current business school without issues. Parking issues pretty much make it impossible to drive to classes since it would take you longer to park and walk than to just walk to begin with in most cases - not a lot of student parking near classroom buildings.
