Questions about Carnegie Mellon and its supplement!

Hello guys, I have two questions!

When the essay asks me to explain "your particular major(s), department(s) or program(s). This essay should include the reasons why you've chosen the major(s), any goals or relevant work plans and any other information you would like us to know", does that mean I have to explain my first choice, second choice, and third choice? How could I possibly write a coherent, united essay this way?

Let's say I get rejected from my first choice. Does that mean I'm rejected from Carnegie Mellon University, or just the first choice college. Let's say that my first choice was Tepper and my second choice was Dietrich. Would I still have a chance to go to Dietrich if I was rejected from Tepper?

Thanks!

D is a soph at CMU.

Answer to question #1: In a word, YES. Try to make it as coherent as possible. My D struggled with this as well, but managed to write a very compelling and coherent essay.

Answer to question #2: Each school does their own review. You can either be accepted or rejected by either school. My D applied to 3 schools (which is the limit) and was accepted to all three. They let you know this in your acceptance letter. Once accepted, you can only enroll in one school.
