Hi everyone, I am a spring admit. I know it is kinda early to ask questions about class registrations now but I am just curious.

Do we register for classes on the day of orientation only?

Where can we find info about what classes we are required to take? I know there is a catalog of classes online..Do we go over that in advance and then fill out some sort of forms on orientation day?
3.If I wanna double major, how can I know whether I am taking the right classes for both major? Is there anyone to help me figure things out?

Thanks

Yes.

You will meet with an advisor from your major during orientation. He/she will suggest classes to take in sequence for the major plus allow room for GE or Language, in most cases. You will then get to look over the choices available and make up your schedule.

USC does not recognize a double major until your second semester. For some majors/Schools, you’ll have to be admitted to the major so it may require supplements, pre-reqs, GPA, talent auditions, etc. For Dornsife majors, I believe they just require signing up with the major department. For that reason, most freshmen will be advised to take certain classes in their (first) major plus get some GEs or foreign language reqs going the first semester.

You can always call your second major’s department office to check further. THey will have the specifics and may even suggest one of their classes for your first semester.

Best of luck.

If you did a materials packet, how do you register?
I’m in another country and I talked to my parents over the phone and had them open up my USC mail. They couldn’t find anything about registering for classes/academic advisors and since I can’t physically see the stuff I can’t find it. Where in the materials packet should I be looking?

@Madbean:Thank you so much for your help :)

@ripemango: I didn’t get a material packet. The last packet I got from USC is just the acceptance letter and some housing info. I looked on USC website for the classes info. There is a catalog for that
