Questions about CMU Qatar

<li><p>Is it possible to apply ED to CMU Qatar?</p></li>

<p>If you’re applying to study 4 years in Qatar, yeah, you’d apply to Qatar @ CMU, not CMU in Pittsburgh. And you’d be getting your degree from CMU Qatar, not from CMU.</p>

<p>[Carnegie</a> Mellon University in Qatar | How to Apply](<a href=“http://qatar.cmu.edu/40/how-to-apply]Carnegie”>How to Apply - Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar)</p>

<p>To my knowledge there is no ED program in Qatar. Just RD.</p>

<p>Is it possible to transfer from Qatar to Pittsburgh?</p>

<p>My guess would be yes. I’ll check with an admissions dude and get back to you on that.</p>

<p>No ED in Qatar, huh? Oh well, thanks for your help! :D</p>

<p>Kate is correct about your 1st question, you do apply directly to Carnegie Mellon Qatar. And she is also right that you will study all 4 years in Qatar, unless you choose to spend 1 or 2 semesters studying on our main campus or another study abroad location. Also, there is no ED…only RD with an application deadline of March 1, 2011.</p>

<p>But regarding one of Kate’s comments, your degree will come from the main campus and be identical to those issued to main campus students. <p>It is possible to transfer to the Pittsburgh campus from Qatar, however you should consider a few things…please see our answer to that question at the bottom of our FAQ page: [Carnegie</a> Mellon University in Qatar | Frequently Asked Questions](<a href=“http://qatar.cmu.edu/64/frequently-asked-questions]Carnegie”>Frequently Asked Questions - Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar)</p>

<p>@CMUQadmission: Have you yet declared yourself to the moderators of collegeconfidential? Usually they will give you a little authenticity stamp and make note that you’re an admissions officer. It could be useful for future Qatar students who are not sure where they can ask questions and get reliable responses, especially because all the current students answering questions here are Pittsburgh students.</p>

<p>I also wonder about authenticity …both the OP and “Adcom” are new members.</p>

<p>This CMU thread has no Moderator…but a bunch of regular posters-- alums, current students, parents and former parents…all offering unofficial and helpful info from own unique perspectives and capacities. We all share a passion and respect for the CMU degree.</p>

<p>what are the requirements for carnegie mellon qatar for business if i am doin a levels please help :)</p>

Hi. Thanks for your answer for these questions.

I also applied to CS in CMUQ, and now I am waiting for my decision. I want to know, though you say it is possible to transfer to main campus from Qatar, the acceptance rate or any statistics about those students who want to continue their study in Pittsburgh rather than Doha. Also, I also want to know if there is any student transfers to other schools like UCB or UIUC.

I am looking forward to a job in the United State after graduation, so I am worried about if there is a great difficulty for me to do so if I get my degree from CMUQ rather than CMU.

I looked through some discussions talking about this problem, and I found that some people believe that it is quite hard for a student to find a job in USA after they graduate from CMUQ because few company would like to provide an interview or a position for a student who learned outside the United State.

And this, well, “rumor”, forces me to consider to transfer if I couldn’t find a job in the United State after graduation.

Thanks a lot!
