Questions about Columbia's "Interests" and such

I was completing Part II of the application and I'm curious about how some of you guys responded to the questions...

How many books and magazines did you list? They say add more if you think it is nesscessary, but I don't want to list a lot because than it would be like bragging. Also, did anyone use quotations for each book (some books have commas in the title)?

Also, what is the best kind of picture to send? Formal or informal? Senior yearbook photo or something that just shows "you"?

I listed as many books from the past year as would fit in three lines, and I tried to make a range of interests within them. I put more than one on a line. My favorites over the past year didn't take up three lines, and I was fine with that. I'm not expected to call every book a favorite. That really is sucking up. As for magazines/newspapers, the few I read have a good range and easily fit in the space. None of my books had commas in the titles, so can't help you there.

I sent an informal picture that shows "me." A picture of me with my cello.

I got in ED, so whatever I did may or may not have been good, but it didn't do me harm, anyway.

Sorry, one more question...

For the School activities, if I put acronyms in the title, how should I explain what it stands for if there isn't enough room? I doubt they will automatically know...

Avoid acronyms. Just write like school newspaper, drug awareness club, youth symphony, literary magazine, debate team. . . whatever
