Questions about css profile and fafsa

So I got some decent money from the css profile, in the form of a large grant. Will I be able to get additional money from the fafsa after getting this grant? And I know that the Css profile is how colleges determine how much money they should give you. But what exactly is the fafsa? Is that what the government will give you?

Also, generally speaking, is it too late to apply for scholarships?

Your school has already estimated any aid thru FAFSA.

Can you copy/paste your aid pkg?

Check yoir school website…likely the FAFSA is required…so get it done. Otherwise, you risk not getting the estimated aid you have been awarded.

@mom2collegekids

What do you mean “thru FAFSA” if I haven’t even filled it out yet?

You didn’t get money from the CSS. It’s an info document the colleges use when they assess need. The Fafsa is the first document, reflects qualifying for federal monies. But in both cases, it’s the college that oversees. Check the requirements for aid at your colleges.

OP,
Without FAFSA, you won’t get any Federal Financial Aid (which include most Student Loans)

What mom2 means…based on your early Profile, the school was easily able to,see whether you were eligible for a Pell Grant, or SEOG, or subsidized Direct Loans. Your income would be the same on the FAFSA and Profile. That incime determines your family contribution.

Schools can easily determine if you are eligible for a Pell Grant or SEOG which are based on the FAFSA EFC which is largely based on your income.

In your financial aid award,what else was there beside a university grant? Was the Direct Loan included? Did you see a Pell Grant? Work study?

Or was it only a university grant.
