Questions about Cuse? Ask here!

HEY Everyone!
I am a Junior television radio and film student in newhouse with minors in psych and management (in whitman)
feel free to ask any questions you might have about applications, acceptances, majors, minors, or just anything about cuse!
i’m here to help.

go orange !!!

Do you have any idea when acceptance notifications for early decision applicants will be sent out? I know an ED Newhouse student who got his in early December, but I’ve heard that they’re going out a little later this year. Thank you so much!

any questions !!

@livdelo They usually come out around december (the first round and then every week after that) but there have been many more this year and they are hoping to get them out by late december-mid january the latest!
good luck!

Hi! Thank you very much for creating this thread.
What video editing software do Newhouse students mostly use?
I’d like to know which software I should download and get familiar with should I get accepted into Newhouse

@jitterbugperfume hi!!! So in the first few classes, we use FinalCut but in later years (as a TRF major) there are classes you can take to learn other softwears (Avid, after affects ect) but you do not need to know anything about anything because they teach you how to use it (like very beginner) so if you are clueless or an expert everyone starts at the same level. this goes for cameras too, you learn how to use everything from start to finish. so with that being said, it is not really worth it to pay $300 to download a software to learn it before school because you will be learning it when you get there anyways (in your first year)
hope that helps !!

Hi,
I am confused as to which SAT score should I send. Can you give any help?
Oct SAT was: 1230, 590 Reading, 640 Math, 7/7/7 Essay
Nov SAT was: 1350, 660 Reading+Writing, 690 Math, 4/6/8 Essay

Should I send the Nov score? My concern is that my essay score isn’t that great in this test. So should I send both? As it’ll also show improvement?

Also do you know anything/ anyone from the Aerospace engineering area? Thanks

@caasse if you want to apply to the engineering, i would go with the higher math. i know that they super-score but you could also just call admissions and ask what they think! they are very helpful and only want you to succeed.
i know a few people in aerospace engineering, actually haha; they were my neighbors last year!!! i can ask them any questions! good luck

@cuseyou thanks for the reply! I’ll surely call them. There is one thing I really wanna know, when did you declare your major? for example, say I get into the engineering school. But after the first year or semester I decide I want to get into business and join Whitman. Is this possible? thanks

@caasse i declared my major when i applied (i was that one annoying kid who knew that i wanted TRF forever) but it is very easy to declare and change your college, you kind of just have to a sign a form and then they will accept you it is very easy to do it!!

@cuseyou thanks, that sounds good  is there anyway I can connect with any of your aerospace major friends or anything? I actually would like to ask a few things…

@caasse yes! let me see what i can do haha

@cuseyou I am a sophomore at the University of Alabama hoping to be admitted to Syracuse for the fall of 2017. I was wondering when they start sending admissions letters out for transfer students. Thank you!

@transfer0815 why dont you just call them and ask? they’ll know it better, no?

Do you know if acceptances are actually being sent out as early as now? A student on a different thread said that they were accepted yesterday; I’m pretty sure for regular decision.
