Questions about DC

I know DC is a wonderful place to go to college in if you're interested in government or political journalism, but how much do you guys feel it offers in terms of the arts, non-political branches of journalism, and general entertainment?

It’s great for all those things.

Keep in mind that there’s about 600,000 people living in Washington alone. That’s acc. to the 2010 census. That’s a pretty big city. Even though Washington in very political obviously, there’s a huge amount of culture and enterntainment going on. Lots of cool stuff. Like any big city, you can find interesting people/places that have more to do with art, culture, entertainment, etc. rather than gov’t. and politics.

There is a lot of Trade Association journalism, as well as sports and arts. for entertainment, you can go anywhere from the Folger Theater to Olny theater in MD to the Kennedy Center with a lot in between. You can hit Adams Morgan, Old Town Alexandria or downtown D.C. if you can’t find what you seek in Georgetown. there is even more if you are willing to drive to the Eastern Shore of MD or 45 minutes west into Virginia horse country.

Just like everyone above said… DC is a great city! You’ll be able to find a little bit of everything and anything in the city and not too far out of it. :)
