Questions about declaring bizecon major

Yeeeeah ok I'm going to be a sophomore and I still don't know how to declare a major. Pretty lame, I know..I've just been taking GEs pretty much all year.

So I just decided end of my freshman year to pursue bizecon (I'm undeclared social sciences right now), so I've only taken 3 of the prereqs (Econ 1, Math 31A, Math 31B) and I'm starting to get worried that I'm behind. When do I have to declare a major by? Can you declare biz/econ whenever you want, as long as you've completed the prereqs? I read somewhere that you have to declare a major by the time you're a junior (90 units) and I'm already at 81 units. Does that mean I have to declare my major by the end of fall 08?

I just don't think I can shove in Econ 2, 11, 41, 101, Management 1A & 1B, and a Writing II all into my sophomore year. And pull off good grades in order to even qualify...

Thanks for helping a stupid soph in need! :)

hmm i'm in a similar boat, need to take 2, 11, 101 and 102 in series to declare intl econ. i'm planning to take one summer session to get it in time and if 102 is not offered then umm well I'm not sure, declare it next quarter i guess. One thing is that I assume u included AP credits in ur 80 sth units, in which case i think those do not factor in. So as long as you declare before you have completed that many units at ucla then it should be alright.
on the other hand for you it is possible for u to complete it. 2 11 101 will fit into 3 quarters, with 41, 1a 1b being done at the same time s those courses. This still leaves u with 2 courses a quarter for writing and other stuff.

Thanks so much for the reply!

Yuck, yeah squeezing classes in is not going to be fun. I can take Econ 41 concurrently with another Econ class? Would that be absolute murder? I should probably stick to just 3 classes then huh.

So when my UCLA credits reach 90 then I need to declare a major? Could I just declare a random one and switch when I want to apply for bizecon?

Don't worry about it.

I only had one of the prerequisites done by the end of my Freshmen year. And after this summer, I'll be entering my junior year and finished with all the prereqs. I plan on applying for the major this Fall.

If you look on the site, it just says that you need between 72 and 137 units (not including APs).

So don't worry about it. Relax. And take the classes and do well (especially 11 and 101). :)
