Questions about declaring major

Sorry if any of these questions seem stupid

I read that you must declare a major upon completion of 45 credits, but I've also heard you didn't have to declare until the end of sophomore year. I am guessing the latter does not apply to people with AP credits? I am a freshman and by the end of Spring I will have 54 credits (had a lot from AP tests/CW Post high school classes). So this means I must declare my major by the end of THIS semester, correct?

I plan to double major and have one minor. Do I need to make an appointment with each undergraduate department adviser in order to declare each major/minor? Or is it more along the lines of just walking into their office during office hours and asking them to sign the piece of paper? The latter seems rude but I'm not sure what the norm is, and I don't want to waste anyone's time since I have no real questions.

Thank you for any replies

It’s about your number of credits, not your time. So if you have 54 credits, then yes, you need to declare something.

Depends on the department; check with the secretary first and go from there.

Ok, thanks. One more question: if I “declared” a major when I applied/entered, do I still need to go get the signature from the department chairperson to make it official?

No, as it will be already in the system.

Provided that your not declaring BUS or MEC (Engineering) you can have the department secretary sign a declaration form as easy as 1 2 3 for a First, second, or even third major, along with minors as well.
