i'm a newly admitted freshman, class of 2009, and I want to know if anyone has any tips on where to pick my dorm. Can anyone give me some tips on which halls are for which kind of people. I know they are stereotyped a lot. ? Thank you!

HEy nu2009, are you not doing a co-op

Here are two sites called DTECs that Northwestern provides for students to give revuews of the dorms they are in.

and

People have negative and positive things to say about all the dorms. So take the reviews with a grain of salt.
The Dorms on South Campus (i.e. Willard, Allison, South Mid Wuads, North Mid Quads, etc.) tend to have a lot more people majoring in the arts and humanities. You'll find quite a few theater majors. It's closer for their types of classes.
Up North (dorms like Sargeant, Bobb, McCullough (Bobb and McCullough are connected to each other), Elder, etc.) there are a lot of people majoring in engineering because thtat is closer to Tech (the building that has classes for engineering) Up NOrth are also all of the fraternities. So that's where a lot of social things are going on. But everybody on South campus can walk up to the parties on north campus.
Up North you are right near SPAC (that's the nicer gym on campus) There is a gym on South campus called Blomquist but its only so-so. it has machines and stuff but not as nice as SPAC.
On South Campus you are very close to Evanston which is nice if you ever want to run to CVS or to get food in a restaurant. (Evanston is the dining capitol of the Northe Shore!)
Also, there is a mixture of people in everydorm. people say that the artsy people are down south but I also know engineers down here. And up north there are people majoring in theater or journalism or whatever.

LOL, I'm looking at the wrong north thread. Sorry ya'll.

Is Allison really mice infested?

I haven't heard anything about mice in Allison this year. Those DTECs were from 2002-2003, so I think they have mitigated the rodent problem.

eew... (stress that)
