Questions about EA deferrals

Can I resubmit my entire Common App? I don't mind paying the fees. I wrote my EA application in a rush because I thought it was a risk-free extra chance. I didn't know I can't change my essay.

I heard people talking about sending personal emails to explain why you want to go to Harvard, will they look at those?

I got a third teacher recommendation letter for a different university and I want to send it to Harvard. How do I send it?

Can I send my additional supplements to Harvard after Jan. 1? (If I can't resubmit my entire Common App)

I'm really worried because Harvard is my clear first choice. If I can't change my Common App essay, then I basically lost my chance at Harvard.

Omnifeed - Calm down. First of all you need to be truthful to yourself. You can’t say I really want to go to Harvard here and then go to Stanford thread and say I really want to go to Stanford. Gibby and others have given very good advise on your SCEA deferral for followup

1) Don’t submit a new app 2) Like Gibby said try to send a personal email to the regional adcom with “why Harvard” 3) IMO, a third LOR is not going to help 4) idk the answer to if you can send additional supplements

You need to realize now that you’re most likely not going to get in.

I am sure a new poster with only two posts to his rather heartless user name says such a thing to be snarky, but the sad fact is, every applicant to Harvard and its peers ought to realize that very thing the same moment he or she presses “submit.”

No. Once you’ve submitted the Common App to a college the software will not allow you to resend. And, if you somehow mange to outwit the system, you could confuse Harvard Admissions and they could inadvertently reject both your applications thinking you were trying to “game” the system.

Yes

By post or fax

Yes, but the more you send, the more desperate you will appear. After submitting the Common App, the only way to submit extra materials is through post or fax, as Harvard does not open email attachments.
Send in whatever updates you want to Harvard Admissions, but you need to come to terms with the fact that your chances are now roughly the same as everyone else’s in the RD round – about 3%.
